Post Lap-Band diet weeks 1-2
First few days after surgery
After surgery you will begin by drinking water only. Take small sips until you finish drinking a cup. After that you will continue to slowly drink ¼ cup of water, juice or broth every 30 minutes for the rest of the day. Stop drinking right before you are full. Basically, you have to start from zero, like a baby. Only that it won’t take you that long to adjust to normal foods again! Your stomach has some inflammation and we have to give it time to heal. Also you have to get used to a new and small stomach.
First and second week after surgery
We recommend the following list of liquids and pureed foods for these first two weeks. Please follow it precisely:
Clear broth or soup without vegetables or meat and not creamy |
Low fat, sugar free yogurt |
Skim milk |
Jello |
Natural fruit juice or pureed soft fruit (apple, banana, pear, etc) |
Vegetable juices |
Low calorie drinks |
Sugar free protein supplements, with skim milk |
Sugar free popsicles |
Water (6-8 cups a day) |
In between meals you may drink vegetable juice, milk, fruit juices, water, to ingest sufficient liquids and prevent dehydration. Just wait at least an hour after a meal and between liquids.
